US 60 reopens in far East Valley after police investigate death

PHOENIX — The US 60 reopened in Apache Junction near Gold Canyon after closing for a death investigation on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

A law enforcement situation caused both lanes to close between Mountain View Road and Superstition Mountain Drive around 3:05 p.m., according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). The Mesa Police Department is in charge of investigating the scene.

“We have confirmed that this is not an officer-involved shooting,” Mesa Police Department spokesperson Detective Jose Aguirre told KTAR News 92.3 FM. “However, we are conducting a death investigation, and our homicide unit will be on scene.”…
