Mesa woman gives hope to the disabled

Dr. Danita Applewhite is an eminent speaker, author, professional vocational counselor, and a retired psychology professor.

The Mesa woman is also a powerful voice for the disabled community, particularly her fellow veterans who face hopelessness and homelessness.

“I motivate them to see themselves as ‘differently-abled,’ as opposed to disabled,” she said. “I also want the people who come to me for mentoring to see themselves as the beautiful, productive, successful, valuable, and wonderful people they are.”
