Mesa cemetery prepares 2,500 wreaths to honor veterans this holiday

MESA, Ariz. — Dozens of volunteers gathered Friday at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery in Mesa, carefully unboxing and preparing nearly 2,500 evergreen wreaths that will honor every veteran buried on the grounds.

The preparation comes ahead of Saturday’s Wreaths Across America ceremony, a nationwide event where more than 5,000 cemeteries will simultaneously place wreaths on veterans’ graves.

“We don’t know them all, but we owe them all, and this is one way that we can show them that we appreciate everything that they have done for us,” said volunteer Irene Nowacki…
