SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — A Salt River firefighter diagnosed with cancer is now relying on community support as he undergoes treatment that has left him unable to work and separated from his family.
Joseph Christopher, who has served as a firefighter for more than six years, was diagnosed with a germ cell tumor several months ago. The tumor has since spread to his lungs.
Christopher is currently undergoing aggressive chemotherapy and has been forced to quarantine from his wife and four children.
