Peoria Unified votes to close 2 elementary schools, superintendent resigns

PEORIA, AZ (AZFamily) — The Peoria Unified School District Governing Board voted Thursday to close two elementary schools.

The board voted unanimously to close Kachina Elementary School and Pioneer Elementary School, both effective for the 2026-27 school year.

Students from Kachina will be redirected to Canyon Elementary School, while Pioneer students will be reassigned to Foothills Elementary School under approved attendance boundary adjustments…
