SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — Troopers say a first date took an abrupt turn after a driver was arrested for excessively speeding along an East Valley freeway last week, with his date still in the car.
Around 11 p.m. on April 15, an Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper pulled over a driver near the Loop 101 and McDowell Road. According to AZDPS Highway Patrol, the trooper’s radar caught the driver going 120 miles per hour along the freeway.
The passenger told the trooper that she and the driver were on their first date. She said that she felt scared while inside the vehicle, and said, “this would be their last date.”
Authorities say the driver was taken into custody and tried to plead for a warning since it was his first offense. He was booked for criminal speed and reckless driving. Along with the arrest, his car was impounded for 20 days,…
