Truck strikes power lines in Port Orchard, causing power outage

KITSAP COUNTY, Wash. — A truck carrying containers struck overhead power lines in Port Orchard Friday, causing widespread outages and road closures in the area, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the intersection of Bethel Burley Road and Lider Road, near Kira, after the boom of the truck hit the utility lines, officials said.

Puget Sound Energy reported that about 2,950 customers lost electricity as a result of the incident. As of 4 p.m., only 149 were still without power…
