Washington Teen, 15, Found Shot to Death in Rec Center Bathroom Shocks Community: ‘It’s Alarming’

The teen was identified as 15-year-old Mobarak Sharik Adam, a student at the Chief Sealth International High School in Seattle

A 15-year-old was fatally shot in a recreation center bathroom in Washington last week, according to police and local reports, shocking members of the surrounding community.

Local CBS affiliate KIRO-TV reported that officers with the Seattle Police Department responded to a report of a shooting on Tuesday afternoon. Upon arrival, they found the teenage boy with a gunshot wound at the Southwest Pool and Teen Life Center, a city-operated recreational facility in West Seattle, according to local NBC affiliate KING-TV .

First responders performed life-saving measures, but the boy, identified as Mobarak Sharik Adam, was pronounced dead at the scene.

KING-TV reported that the 15-year-old was a student at the Chief Sealth International High School.

“Several youths had entered the establishment, they noted their friend had been shot and then they left,” Seattle Police Chief Adrian Diaz said, according to KIRO-TV. “We’re still trying to get a little more detail about what occurred. Right now we have not had any reports of an altercation or anything that would suggest that.”
