Crawford went 1-for-2 with two walks, a hit-by-pitch and a run in a win over the Cardinals on Friday. The busy game on the basepaths was a badly needed one for the struggling Crawford, who’d recently been bumped from the top of the order and had come into the night slashing .083/.290/.083 over the 31 plate appearances covering his first seven games back from the injured list. Crawford had run into some tough luck during that stretch — he also sported a 19.4 percent walk rate, 16.1 percent strikeout rate and .105 BABIP in that sample — so it’s conceivable Friday’s performance is the start of a turnaround to some degree.
