Over 100 illegal street racers dispersed by Seattle officers, community group

SEATTLE — Seattle police offers and members of the department’s Community Response Group successfully countered over 100 illegal street racers Saturday night.

More than 100 street racers gathered near the 3500 block of 1st Avenue South, according to police. A large rave nearby gave the racers an audience and the intersection of Spokane Street and 1st Avenue South was taken over soon after. Police said the group performed illegal maneuvers while in the intersection.

CRG and patrol officers quickly intervened, using police lights, sirens, and the department’s Long Range Acoustic Device to disperse the crowd…
