Ferry crew and passengers praised for swift rescue of 2 teens from capsized canoe

EDMONDS, Wash. — Two 18-year-olds say they don’t know if they would have made it to safety had it not been for the help of a ferry boat crew and the person who spotted them and called 911.

“Seriously, we might not be here if they didn’t call, which is crazy to think about. We are so thankful,” said 18-year-old Blake Butherus.

The teen’s canoe capsized just west of Blake Island Friday night, and someone spotted them in the water. Both were wearing life vests but getting cold fast…
