Lighting fireworks can cost you $513

Independence Day is almost here and with it comes a reminder that the personal use of fireworks is illegal in the city of Tacoma.

According to city ordinance, the sale, transportation and discharge of fireworks is a Class I civil infraction. Violations can result in a $513 fine and confiscation of all fireworks in the offender’s possession. Criminal arrests will be made for possession or use of homemade explosives and for acts that reach the level of reckless burning, assault, or arson.
