According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office’s social media post, the incident occurred on July 17, when deputies identified a stolen car in the Tacoma area and attempted to pull over the driver. The situation escalated rapidly, with the female driver leading deputies on a brief pursuit before a PIT maneuver brought the episode to a daring, albeit temporary, halt.
The standoff that followed lasted 20 minutes, with the driver persistently reaching into her purse and shoving items into her clothing. This action raised suspicions among deputies that she might be armed, a fear that led to deploying a K9 unit.
