Port Orchard man sentenced to prison on almost 30 counts, faces up to 23 years

A prolific burglar from Port Orchard that evaded law enforcement on several occasions has been sentenced to 23 years in prison after pleading guilty to almost 30 criminal felony counts.

Gary Moyer, 39, was finally apprehended through an armed standoff by law enforcement after he embarked on a crime spree a couple years ago which included many break-ins at hardware businesses in the area. He was sentenced on July 10 before his case went to trial on charges that included burglary, theft, possession of stolen vehicles, theft of motor vehicles, unlawful possession of firearms, arson and malicious mischief.

Moyer’s crimes in the case filed in Kitsap County Superior Court trace back to summer 2022, when he ignored a Kitsap County Sheriff deputy’s attempt to pull him over and led the deputy on a high-speed chase.
