SEATTLE — A homeless camp that once occupied a vacant building proved very costly for the property owner, who had to pay for security investments as well as fines imposed by the city of Seattle.
Sam Hawley owns the building and land at 2217 NW 57th Street in Ballard, the site of the former JOANN Fabric and Crafts. When the company went bankrupt and his tenant moved out at the end of April, and Hawley went about securing the building.
But a short time later, trouble arrived…
