A commercial building in Seattle’s Ballard district was the scene of a fire last night, starting from a dumpster alight in the alley of the 1700 block of NW Market St. The Seattle Fire Department was alerted to the situation at 8:42 p.m., with multiple calls received at the Fire Alarm Center. Initially, Engine 18 was dispatched, but the situation escalated, prompting a call for a first alarm assignment as flames spread from the dumpster to the building.
Containment of the fire was achieved by 9:21 p.m., and the fire was completely extinguished by approximately 9:40 p.m., according to the Seattle Fire Department. Despite the late hour, fortunately, the building was unoccupied, and no injuries were reported.
