Community members gathered Sept. 11 at the Kitsap 9/11 Memorial at Evergreen Rotary Park in Bremerton for a remembrance ceremony to honor those who died in the terrorist attacks 24 years ago.
The event began with opening remarks from David Raymond, an original member of the Kitsap 9/11 Memorial Project. The memorial features steel artifacts from the World Trade Center. The Kitsap Firefighters Union Honor Guard presented the colors, followed by the national anthem performed by local musician Kim Hurst.
Bishop Donald Tenney of the LDS Manette Ward, who also serves on active duty in the Navy, gave the invocation. North Mason Regional Fire Authority chief Beau Bakken delivered the keynote address…
