FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Federal Way is seeing less crime now than it was this time last year, according to new data.
The Federal Way Police Department (FWPD) is reporting a 25% decrease in overall crime between August 2024 and August 2025, marking what the city refers to as one of the most significant year-over-year improvements in recent years.
The drop is building off a roughly 11% decrease in crime last year, as well. Mayor Jim Ferrell largely credits the success to new or tweaked state laws, but admitted there’s still work to be done…
