1 dead, 1 hospitalized after kayaker’s distress call at Ballard Locks

SEATTLE — One man died, and another was hospitalized following a water rescue response on Friday at the Ballard Locks, according to the Seattle Fire Department.

Emergency crews responded to reports of a kayaker in distress in the 3200 block of W. Commodore Way. Upon arrival, responders located one person in the water and deployed rescue swimmers, the SFD confirmed.
