North Seattle businesses face break-in spree, costly repairs, and security upgrades

SEATTLE — A string of break-ins has left dozens of businesses in north Seattle struggling with added costs to replace stolen items and repair property damage caused by the thieves.

Someone tried to pry open a door into Julia’s of Wallingford in the early morning hours of Jan. 12, but ultimately never made it inside.

“Luckily, as he tried to get in, we do have a sensor, and that sensor rang, and I think it scared him away,” said Victor Morales, who owns the restaurant. “I have a couple of neighbors right next door, and they also got hit.”…
