SEATTLE — Newly released court documents are providing a clearer picture of why a deadly 2023 downtown Seattle shooting will not go to trial — and what prosecutors say was happening in the gunman’s mind.
In June 2023, authorities say Cordell Goosby opened fire into a car stopped at a light. Eina Kwon, who was pregnant, was killed. Her husband was also shot, but survived.
According to court filings, Goosby was experiencing severe psychosis leading up to the attack. Evaluators said he reported hearing voices “all day, every day, it’s nonstop” and believed people were following him. He also told investigators he thought the shooting was a “paid hit.”…
