According to a recent analysis, the Emerald City earns a place among the top 10 most stunning skylines in the country. McLuck evaluated and ranked U.S. skylines by combining skyscraper data, satellite-based brightness measurements, and online popularity signals to determine which stand out the most.
The study pulled together several metrics, including detailed skyscraper data (such as building height, roof height, construction date, and location), city-level brightness data, the number of Pinterest pins related to each skyline, and counts of Flickr images—offering a balanced view of both physical scale and visual appeal.
Seattle ranks 8th overall in this dataset, with a score of 8.667, placing it in the lower half of the top ten. The city has 72 high-rise buildings, matching Atlanta (ranked surprisingly high at #5), yet Seattle’s average skyline height (about 142 meters) and brightness metrics are more modest.
