Suspected DUI driver crashes into tree after swerving through active school zone in Port Orchard

Deputies with the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspected DUI driver who crashed into a tree shortly after passing through an active Port Orchard school zone.

The department is thanking one driver’s 911 call for alerting deputies to the driver. The caller reported the driver, a 25-year-old woman, was swerving on S.E. Phillips Road Tuesday morning, including through an active school zone.

An example of her erratic driving was when she stopped at a crosswalk and just sat there, even after traffic cleared. Minutes later, deputies reported she veered off the road and crashed into a tree…
