Shreveport Police Use DNA Evidence to Make Arrest in Child Assault Case

The Shreveport Police Department has announced a major arrest in a case involving a 13-year-old victim. Matthew Britton, 36, is facing serious charges following an investigation that lasted several months. Detectives confirmed that Britton was taken into custody after a thorough review of forensic evidence. The investigation began in January of 2026, after the victim came forward to authorities.

DNA Evidence Leads to Arrest

According to the official release from the Shreveport Police Department, the juvenile victim identified Britton early in the investigation. When initially questioned by investigators, Britton denied the allegations completely. However, investigators secured a DNA sample from Britton to compare against forensic evidence taken during a hospital examination of the victim.

Police say the results returned on May 28, 2026, confirmed the suspect’s involvement in the crime.
