Contaminated gas leads to costly rental car repair bill

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A simple rental car return turned into a nearly $2,300 bill after David Richardson says he unknowingly filled up with what he now believes was contaminated gasoline at a Chevron on Monkhouse Drive.

“January 28th, I gassed the vehicle up at the Chevron on Monkhouse Drive, dropped the vehicle off. I got on my flight back to San Antonio. A week later I received a phone call from Enterprise there in Shreveport at the airport stating that, ‘Sir, we couldn’t start your vehicle. We had to have your vehicle towed. We towed your vehicle to the BMW dealership, and they determined that you had bad gasoline,’” Richardson said.

A month later, Richardson says a bill arrived from the Enterprise Mobility Damage Recovery Unit stating he owed funds for damage to the vehicle…
