Storms that featured plenty of rain and lightning brought not only electrical outages to northwest Louisiana late Monday and overnight; they knocked over trees and flooded areas that regularly experience standing water.
According to data from the National Weather Service, a 63 mph wind gust was recorded at the Shreveport Regional Airport after 4 p.m. as the storm moved into town. Another, 65 mph, was recorded just before 5 p.m. in Princeton, north of Haughton.
Damage to trees was widespread. Reports by the NWS included a tree across the intersection of Charles and Butler streets in Belcher in northeast Caddo Parish; another tree down three blocks south of Stoner Avenue in Shreveport, near the intersection of Centenary Boulevard and Lister Street; and a tree down in the 7600 block of S.
