Shreveport city leaders demand answers after 4 blighted apartment complexes go to auction

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Four abandoned apartment complexes in Shreveport went up for auction in June, and city leaders say they still don’t know who bought them or what comes next for the properties.

Trash, overgrown grass, and a lack of maintenance have characterized the complexes, which have sat vacant with no upkeep. City officials say they are frustrated — but also limited in what they can do.

Mayor made calls, got no answers

Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux said he personally contacted the person handling the auction sales to ask for updates on the outcome.

“And he said, basically, I’m responsible for setting it up. I’m not responsible for the aftermath, but I’ll see what I can find out. I asked him if he would call me back. He said he would, but I haven’t heard from him,” Arceneaux said.
