SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – A new generation of physicians is officially beginning their medical journey in Shreveport today.
On Friday, Aug. 7, 150 first-year medical students from the LSU Health Shreveport School of Medicine will participate in the annual White Coat Ceremony at the historic Strand Theatre in downtown Shreveport. The ceremony, which starts at 9 a.m., marks their formal entry into the medical profession.
A Legacy Tradition
This year’s ceremony features a special tradition for several incoming students. While many will be coated by LSU Health Shreveport faculty mentors, students with an immediate family member who is a practicing physician will have the unique opportunity to be coated by them—symbolizing the passing of the medical torch from one generation to the next.
