Louisiana brings warmer nights, thicker humidity, and, unfortunately, termites. The LSU AgCenter is warning homeowners to pay close attention, especially as Formosan subterranean termites swarm across the state.
For Shreveport, Bossier City, and the rest of northwest Louisiana, this is not just a south Louisiana problem. Louisiana’s climate makes homes more vulnerable, and LSU AgCenter entomologist Aaron Ashbrook says the risk comes from a familiar combination: rain, moisture, wood, and a high water table.
“It has to do with the amount of rainfall that we get in the state, our higher water table, as well as being lower, relative to the sea level; more moisture, we have lot of wood,” Ashbrook told Louisiana Radio Network.
