SHREVEPORT, La. — The City of Shreveport is bringing in outside help to tackle a growing backlog of bulky waste items piling up along neighborhood streets.
City officials say Solid Waste crews have struggled in recent weeks because of a shortage of drivers, slowing the collection of large household items that are picked up separately from regular garbage.
To speed up the process, the city has hired Good Hope Recovery to assist crews for about three weeks. The contractor will deploy three large trucks and make one coordinated pass through each neighborhood.
