It is no secret that I don’t need a GPS when it comes to sniffing out the absolute best tacos in Shreveport–Bossier. In fact, there are a few local spots where the staff probably smile and brace themselves when I walk through the door. Once I get an idea in my head about the exact taco I’ve been dreaming about all day long, I’m making it happen, which is actually how the famous “Chica Taco” at Ramirez Mexican Restaurant was born!
I remember walking into Ramirez back when they were fairly new, craving something very specific. I wanted that rich, savory red consommé dip on a warm tortilla, but stuffed with grilled onions, bell peppers, melted cheese, and tender carne asada. The amazing team created it right on the spot, and now it’s one of their top-selling items on the menu. If you haven’t tried it yet, trust me, you are missing out.
Our twin cities are packed with unbelievable flavor, ranging from cozy neighborhood staples to elevated culinary gems. You’ve got incredible hole-in-the-wall spots like Néstor’s off Pines Road serving up authentic perfection, and then there’s El Cabo Verde in Shreveport, where warm, homemade tortillas are pressed fresh and slapped right on the skillet to create the ultimate bed for rich carne asada.
Whether it’s traditional street tacos, crispy birria dipped in rich consommé that completely sweeps you off your feet, or the creative, flavor-packed masterpieces at Ki Mexico that make you wonder why every taco isn’t made that way, our local scene is unmatched. Every single spot brings its own unique spin to the table…
