TYLER, Texas ( KETK ) – East Texas schools announce delays and closures due to flooding.
Chireno ISD
Chireno ISD announced that classes will be delayed on Wednesday until 10 a.m. Busses are expected to run approximately two hours later than usual. The school said it is due to the excessive rain they have received over the past couple of days.
“Several of our roads where our buses travel are currently experiencing flooding and this could prove dangerous for any drivers attempting to travel before daylight. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but the safety of our students and their parents, our bus drivers, faculty and staff is the highest priority in this situation,” said the school in a statement.
Elysian Fields ISD
Tuesday: Elysian Fields ISD announced they made the decision to release students at 11:30 a.m. due to “rising water and flooding taking place on many roads throughout the district.”
