Bossier Parish woman found safe after wondering into the woods

A Bossier Parish woman is safe after being lost in the woods overnight.

A 79-year-old woman who suffers from dementia went missing on Jan. 25. But with the unceasing search by Bossier Sheriff deputies, she was found the next morning.

According to the sheriff’s office, a family member reported the woman was missing Thursday evening. Deputies then began a search for the missing Benton woman.

Drones and a large contingent of deputies searched for hours with no luck.

On Friday morning members of the sheriff’s office K-9 unit located the woman in a thicket in the woods off of Old Plain Dealing Road.

She was carried out of the woods by K-9 Deputy Cody Smith. Following her rescue she received medical aid.

According to a Facebook post by the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office, Smith said that the victim was tired and cold but otherwise unharmed.
