Louisiana Tech student fatally shot at Raising Cane’s drive-thru; ruled accidental

RUSTON, La. ( KTVE/KARD ) — A shooting at the drive-through of a Ruston restaurant that killed a Louisiana Tech student early this morning was an accident, authorities said.

Austin Johnson, 18, of Bossier City was shot and killed at Raising Cane’s on North Service Road in Ruston early Friday morning.

Ruston Police responded to a shooting at the restaurant at 1:48 a.m. Friday. Authorities said Johnson was accidentally shot while in the drive-through area of the restaurant.

According to the Lincoln Parish Journal , the victim was transported by ambulance to the Northern Louisiana Medical Center and then airlifted to LSU Shreveport where he died from his injuries.
