Mississippi ranks as least electric-vehicle-friendly state; Louisiana comes in second

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Shreveport has ranked on a list documenting the best and worst electric vehicle-friendly metro areas, but how does Ratchet City compare to other American cities? And how does the state of Louisiana compare to other states?

When attempting to transition from internal combustion engines to electrified vehicles (EV), those who do not have access to charging stations become concerned about the wisdom of making an electric car purchase. And in a world where access to electric chargers controls the number of electric cars dealerships can sell to the public, Shreveport ranks poorly.

But there’s good news for Shreveport, too. America’s vehicle charging infrastructure grew by nearly 25% in the past year, and Shreveport’s vehicle charging infrastructure grew by a more significant percentage than the rest of the nation.

With 131 public EV chargers in Shreveport, while the state has only 702 public chargers, Shreveport ranks better than Louisiana.

Louisiana is ranked 49th out of 50 states on the list of EV-friendly metro areas. The only state that is less EV-friendly is Mississippi.
