It’s been one year since Shamika Dorsey and LaShanda Carter’s sons were murdered in the mass shooting that consumed a 4th of July block party in Shreveport’s MLK neighborhood. After a year of dealing with the weight of grief and the challenges of picking up the pieces for their families, both women and their families are still finding the strength to take things one day at a time.
