Shreveport’s Kings Highway Coalition announces upcoming meetings

SHREVEPORT, La. ( KTAL/KMSS ) – Kings Highway is a vital road in Shreveport, but upgrades are needed to improve safety, transportation, and economic issues. That’s why the Kings Highway Coalition, a group of community organizers, are hosting a series of public meetings where the community can gather to give input on infrastructure, economic, and quality-of-life improvements along the historic highway.

Chris Lyon is a member of the organization, and he said that Kings Highway is one of Shreveport’s sorely under-recognized gems.

“With even modest improvements to the roadway, traffic flows, and environmental and public amenities, this area would see a wave of interest and revitalization that could lift up all of the residents, business, and institutions in the area,” said Lyon.

Why does a 2500-mile-long, ancient roadway connect Natchitoches, La., to Mexico City?

Members of the coalition already include Centenary College of Louisiana, ReForm Shreveport, the Highland Neighborhood Association, Gladstone Area Partnership, The Highland Center, and people with diverse backgrounds.
