Members of the Shreveport Police Department celebrated 17 women they nominated as important to their communities Friday in a gathering at the Texas Avenue headquarters.
The women received flowers and certificates along with praise from each officer who nominated them. The first such celebration by the department was scheduled as part of Women’s History Month.
“We just wanted to recognize them and show appreciation for all of their hard work and dedication,” said Kaitlin Ellis of the Community Oriented Policing Department. “Honestly, we never get time to just appreciate them for what they do, so I hope this is something that we’ll continue.”…
