Texas–Louisiana Border: Storms Bring Risk of 5-Inch Rain Totals and Flooded Roads by Monday Night

Lake Charles, La. – Parts of Southeast Texas and extreme southwest Louisiana could see up to 5 inches of rain by Monday night as slow-moving storms continue to sweep through the region, raising concerns about flash flooding and hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, a stalled frontal boundary is triggering isolated to scattered thunderstorms across areas from Houston to Lake Charles. The Weather Prediction Center has placed both regions under a Marginal Risk for excessive rainfall through this evening, with some parts of Texas already receiving 3–5 inches since midnight.

Localized flooding may impact roadways near Beaumont, Port Arthur, and into western Calcasieu Parish, especially where heavy rainfall repeats. Damaging wind gusts over 58 mph and hail larger than 1 inch remain possible, though the overall severe weather threat is considered low.
