Shreveport Police identify woman who left baby outside stranger’s house on East Cavett Drive

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – The Shreveport Police Department shared a post on social media Tuesday (April 29) requesting the public’s assistance identifying a woman who dropped off a child at a Shreveport home and left.

With the community’s help, they were able to identify the woman and baby about an hour later. Police said a family member of both individuals has been located, and the mother and child have both been identified. The child is now in the care of Louisiana Department of Children & Family Service and will undergo a full evaluation.

“We want to be clear—dropping a child off on a stranger’s front porch is not acceptable behavior. While we’re thankful this situation ended safely, actions like this can have serious consequence,” an SPD official said. “We are truly grateful for the swift response and concern shown by everyone—your involvement made all the difference in bringing this to a safe and timely resolution.”…
