As travel through Shreveport/Bossier on I-20 has slowed to a snail’s pace, the last thing we needed was an issue on I-220, but apparently that’s exactly where we are.
In an announcement from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, drivers are being notified of an upcoming project on I-220 in both directions near the I-49 interchange in Shreveport.
Due to the alarming number of accidents recently in this area, involving both 18-wheelers and non-commercial vehicles, DOTD has elected to implement a safety measure and apply a supplemental surface abrasion treatment to the pavement.
DOTD noted that many of these crashes were during periods of heavy rain and that the new surface abrasion treatment will increase the level of friction that helps motorists maintain better control in both wet and dry conditions.
