Flash flooding a major concern for Tuesday

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Clouds will continue to gather overnight ahead of our next major storm system. Scattered showers will also be possible, but any rain should be spotty and light. Temperatures will be much warmer overnight with lows generally hovering around 60.

Tuesday looks like a very wet day across the ArkLaTex as low pressure approaches from the west and a warm front slowly lifts northward across the region. Widespread storms will quickly develop during the morning and then continue throughout the afternoon and into the evening. Heavy rain and flash flooding will be the main concern with anywhere from 1-3″ likely and some locally higher amounts up to 5″. Severe weather will also be possible, mainly south of I-20, where damaging wind gusts, hail and an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out. Temperatures will stay well below average with highs ranging from the mid 60s to the low 70s.

The weather stays unsettled for the rest of the week as this storm system stalls over the region. More scattered storms can be expected from Wednesday through Friday but not nearly as widespread as what we’ll see on Tuesday. Having said that, locally heavy rain will still be possible each day with any stronger storm that can develop. Highs during this time will range from the upper 70s to low 80s…
