Shreveport vehicle burglary suspect shot by 911 caller now faces more charges

A man shot by a resident and then arrested when Shreveport Police said he was found with an illegal weapon now faces additional charges.

Jamelvion Lewis, 18, arrested on April 5 in southeast Shreveport, now could face three counts of simple burglary and a count of motor vehicle theft. The resident of a home on University Drive called 911 at 3:30 a.m. that night, reporting he had shot one of two masked people he witnessed breaking into cars on his street.

The caller has not been identified by the Shreveport Police Department and does not currently face any charges, though the investigation is continuing. Lewis was treated at Ochsner LSU Health and booked into the Caddo Correctional Center after a lengthy recovery…
