Shreveport Police Bust 2 More Squatters in Highland

SHREVEPORT, LA

The same day Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux told KEEL News the city is making progress on combatting squatters, specifically in the Highland neighborhood, the Shreveport Police Department announced recent arrests made.

Shreveport Police Arrest Two Squatters on College Street

Shreveport Police responded to a report of suspicious activity on College Street. Their investigation led them to a vacant residence at 448 College Street, where they discovered two individuals inside: Chuck Parker and Lisa James.

Officers determined that neither Parker nor James actually lived at or owned the property and had been unlawfully occupying it. Authorities also confirmed that the residence lacked essential utilities, with water service having been inactive since 2019.

As a result of their unauthorized occupation of an uninhabitable property without utilities, Parker and James were arrested without incident. The arrests were made under the City of Shreveport’s recently enacted anti-squatting ordinance, Section 38-11 R.3…
