City council members are urging the administration to quickly find a different temporary location for officers assigned to patrol Shreveport’s easternmost areas.
At this week’s council meeting, several members asked the administration to keep looking for a location to house police officers patrolling the eastern parts of the city instead of putting them in the temporary location for south Shreveport patrol officers. The council Tuesday approved leasing the south Shreveport location.
The city has been working to relocate police officers and department personnel out of their Texas Avenue headquarters at the same time its trying to build new, permanent substations around town. The rush to move police personnel from the headquarters complex over health and comfort concerns has put a premium on finding space that can take those officers quickly while still providing them the resources needed to do the job — a task that’s proved challenging and expensive…
