Downtown Shreveport to celebrate major milestones July 1

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – The City of Shreveport is marking 2025, a pivotal year in its history, with a special celebration as the city approaches its 200th anniversary.

The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is hosting the event Tuesday, July 1 at 4 p.m. at the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce (400 Edwards St.) to commemorate three major milestones in the city’s history:

  • 190 years since the signing of the Caddo Treaty – This moment is recognized as the founding of Shreveport
  • 40 years since the 1985 Sesquicentennial – This 11-month long celebration united the city under Mayor John B. Hussey
  • Kickoff of the 10-year countdown to Shreveport’s bicentennial in 2035
