Travelers on I-20 anxious to return home after devastating Texas flooding

WASKOM, Texas — The flooding disaster in Central Texas has left thousands searching for survivors and assessing widespread damage — and for some travelers along Interstate 20, the journey home is filled with anxiety and heartbreak.

At a rest area in Waskom, near the Texas-Louisiana state line, KTBS met several people grappling with what’s waiting for them back home, including Steve Lazar, who had just wrapped up a family trip to the East Coast.

“We had 20 inches of rain on July 4th, 5th, and 6th, which is a lot of water, and we had four inches additionally on Sunday. So yeah, I’m anxious,” Lazar said…
