FRIERSON, La. — Three people were injured and several cows were killed when an 18-wheeler hauling the livestock overturned early Tuesday morning on Interstate 49 in DeSoto Parish.
The crash caused both lanes of the interstate to be closed for hours as cows that escaped from the trailer were rounded up. All lanes were reopened mid-morning, according to the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was taken to a hospital. A driver and juvenile passenger in a pickup truck sustained serious injuries when they came upon the crash about 8 minutes later. The driver hit one of the loose cows, causing it to come through the truck’s windshield, the sheriff’s office said…
