Shreveport’s Ford Park could soon get crime cameras after an unsolved murder there

When a teen was shot in late June at Ford Park and “not a single credible witness” came forward from among a crowd estimated at around 100 at the Cross Lake recreation area, the frustration experienced by Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith was not only implied but expressed aloud.

Tuesday, he talked to city council members about a proposed solution to the problem of witnesses who “don’t want to get involved:” installing six surveillance cameras, three on each side of the park divided by Lakeshore Drive.

Wilhite Electric of Bossier City submitted a bid of $55,525 to install 30-foot poles and to run electricity to them for permanent cameras to be placed around the park…
