Lake Bistineau dewatering plans delayed due to successes in battle with invasive salvinia plant

The drawdown of Lake Bistineau will begin later than planned thanks to recent success managing invasive vegetation in the popular state park.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries planned to begin the drawdown of Lake Bistineau Monday, but instead will wait two more weeks so visitors can enjoy its full pool stage a while longer. The annual dewatering aids in vegetation management, but earlier success allowed a deferral in starting the drawdown.
